The company behind
township trade.
Groway (Pty) Ltd is a venture-builder. We design, build, deploy, and operate the SpazaBoX network — a fleet of off-grid, solar-powered container retail units serving South Africa's township and rural economy. 100% Groway-owned. Founded by Motheto Selepe.
The thesis
South Africa has 100,000+ spaza shops, a R240bn township retail market, and chronic last-mile access gaps. SpazaBoX is the field implementation of the UNDP DIME initiative (Nov 2025) and the Spaza Shop Support Fund — a turn-key, compliant, off-grid retail unit that brings grocery, fresh food, health, and licensed trade to villages and townships where formal retail won't go. The operator owns the trade from day one; Groway owns the platform.
